Community Grown:

At Golden Well, farming has always been about cultivating community. This year, we're inviting more people to get involved at the farm with hopes to get back to the roots of what agriculture represents in both community and connection to the Earth. We believe that healthy food is a human right and want to see people well fed and better able to connect with where their food comes from. There's something about being able to grow your own food that can greatly enrich the human experience. And, growing food in community with practices that are mindful of the environment, makes that experience even more rewarding.

The inspiration:

We're inspired by the community gardens of Southern France, and agriculture from days of old, where neighbors work the same plot of land together, sharing in the harvest and community meals. It wasn't long ago that whole villages got together to scythe the fields in community, to gather the apple harvest and press at the shared village press, to share harvest meals and celebrate the gifts of the land. Most of today's agriculture is subsidized in some way, giving a false economic impression of what really goes into growing healthy food and separating us from the power that food has to unite both earth and human.

We want to bring the uniting power of food back to our culture and the power to grow it back to the people. We want to connect folks to the land where their food grows and to each other in meaningful, celebratory ways. We invite you to join us in this pursuit.

If you want to grow with us, we want to hear from you. Get in touch.
