GOLDEN WELL is now OFFERing CERTIFIED ORGANIC VEGETABLE CSA SHARES for 2018! 

Community Supported Agriculture can be a far more rewarding experience than just going to the local store and buying your vegetables. It is a direct connection to the land where your food grows and partnership between you, the consumer, and our farm. When CSA members pay in advance for a share of the upcoming harvest, not only are you ensured high-quality local produce at a discounted price, but we the farmers are ensured a consistent market and the support we need to get our season going; starting our seeds, bringing nutrient to our soil, and preparing for the bounty ahead. Produce is harvested directly from our fertile fields located along the New Haven River just north of Middlebury, VT.  CSA shares are distributed within hours of harvest, making it the freshest produce available.

A NOTE ON SHARED REWARD/RISK:
CSA IS A SHARED REWARD-SHARED RISK ARRANGEMENT BETWEEN FARMERS AND MEMBERS. IT IS OUR DUTY TO MINIMIZE RISK, IT IS OUR MEMBERS DUTY TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP MEANS AND SUPPORT US IN OUR MISSION. MANY CONDITIONS - FROST, FLOOD, HAIL, PESTS, DISEASE - CAN HAVE AN EFFECT ON YIELD.  WE CAN'T GUARANTEE A PERFECT CROP EACH YEAR, BUT WE CAN GUARANTEE WORKING OUR HARDEST TO PROVIDE A QUALITY PRODUCT. MEMBERS ALWAYS GET THE BEST PRODUCT - BEFORE FARMERS' MARKET. RISK IS ADDRESSED ON THE FARM THROUGH CONSCIOUS CROP ROTATION, PLANTINGS TO ATTRACT BENEFICIAL INSECTS AND BY GROWING DIVERSITY - CROPS SUITED TO OUR SITE; A DIVERSITY OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES; A DIVERSITY OF VARIETIES.

CSA IS MORE THAN JUST GETTING PRODUCE EACH WEEK, IT IS A CONNECTION TO WHERE YOUR FOOD COMES FROM AND WHAT IT TAKES TO GET IT TO YOUR PLATE.

CSA IS IMPORTANT FOR OUR FARM, BECAUSE IT GOES BEYOND JUST GROWING FOOD TO ALSO GROW COMMUNITY. WE INVITE YOU THROUGH YOUR FARM MEMBERSHIP TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FARM IN SOME MANNER – VISITING THE FARM DURING THE SEASON, ATTENDING FARM EVENTS, INTERACTING ON THE FARM FACEBOOK PAGE, GETTING TO KNOW MY FARMERS AT THE MARKET OR ON THE FARM, SHARING RECIPES AND COOKING TIPS WITH OTHER MEMBERS, VOLUNTEERING AT THE FARM, ETC.

REASON #1: HEALTH
We all know it's all about eating your vegetables! But, not all vegetables are created equal. Produce grown in nutrient rich soil without chemical inputs are not only healthier for you, but way better for the environment. A double win. Sign up for your CSA share for your health and the health of the planet! 

REASON # 2 : VALUE
By paying your farmer directly to grow food for you, you're cutting out the cost of middlemen like distributors and retailers. This means more of your purchase dollars go directly to supporting your local farmer. Plus, when you buy local you're also avoiding the extra monetary and environmental cost of transportation. Better for the earth, better for your farmer. 

REASON #3: QUALITY
That fresh picked strawberry, that tomato off the vine, the head of lettuce that was in the field earlier thatday and is still crisp and full of life! Fresh food tastes better! Besides being fresh, what makes our veggies even more flavorful is that they're grown without chemical fertilizers in nutrient dense soils! You can taste and feel the difference when you eat local, organic food. When you join a CSA, your taste buds and body will thank you for it!

REASON #4: CONNECTIONS
CSAs help you connect more deeply with the earth and the seasons. Through building a relationship with your farmer, you learn more about the process of growing food. Through eating what's ready to harvest, you connect to the seasons and natural rhythms of the earth. Your food being grown closer home inevitably and inextricably ties you the nature that surrounds you.

REASON #5: COMMUNITY! 
Our final and favorite reason of why you should join a CSA! Becoming a member of a CSA makes you a part of supporting the local food system and is a great way to put your dollars to action in creating positive environmental and social change. When you know where your food comes from and directly support your grower, you become woven into the fabric of your local community. Your CSA dollars keep your farmer growing and therefore able to offer healthy food to others in your area. Whether at pick up or at farm events, CSA is also just a really fun way to meet other people who are interested in local, healthy food and care about the planet just as much as you do! At our farm, we love to share our love of the earth and its bounties and the sense of place that makes everyone feel a deep sense of nourishment and belonging.
