Honeybee Medicine:

SWEETNESS & STING

Honeybee Medicine includes all healing as centered around the gifts of the sweet honeybee. We work with the honeybee in a multitude of ways, be it with the Spirit of the honeybee or a more hands on approach by using the actual stinger from the bee or even finding benefit from honeybee produced substances such as honey, pollen or propolis.

JAPANESE APITHERAPY (BEE THERAPY):

Combining traditional Japanese diagnostics and knowledge of acupoints with the powerful healing qualities of bee venom and other hive products can provide healing for a number of health issues including arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, fertility issues, joint pain, digestive disorders, high blood pressure and more.

Treatments with Japanese Bee Therapy, as with Acupressure treatments, will include a 45-60 minute intake plus a 30-60 minute bee sting treatment, followed by acupressure.

Hive products used medicinally in treatments include the following...

Bee Venom:  The two main components of Bee Venom include melittin and adolapin which are powerful anti-inflammatory and immune boosting agents. Bee venom can be used to treat systemic inflammations such as arthritis and asthma, injuries such as tendonitis, to minimize symptoms of multiple sclerosis, as well as treating Lyme's Disease. In his article "The Treatment of Lyme Disease with Bee Venom," Dr. Dietricht K. Klinghardt says that bee venom can help stop Lyme disease from spreading through the human body. The peptide mellitin inhibits Lyme disease and prevents it from multiplying. Lyme disease is then easier to control and can be taken care of through the body's own immune system.

Honey: Both internally and topically, honey has notable healing properties. The ancient Egyptians used honey as an embalming material and treated cuts and burns with it. The Greek physician Hippocrates cured skin disorders with honey, and the Romans cleaned wounds with it. Even as recently as World War I, doctors treated wounds with honey. With the advent of antibiotics, honey fell out of use for its healing properties, but scientific research is now rediscovering honey's natural healing power. Because of its high sugar, low protein composition, honey acts as a natural "antimicrobial" that limits the growth of bacteria by cutting off the supply of water and nitrogen. Internally, honey can be used to balance hormones, help control blood sugar disorders, and  to help rid the blood of toxins or harmful substances.

Propolis: Bees collect this sticky resin from certain flowers and trees, add salivary secretions to it, and use it to build, reinforce, and seal parts of the hive. It is also placed at the hive's entrance so that bees returning to the hive brush up against it as a way of "disinfecting" themselves before reentering the hive. In fact, propolis is sometimes called "nature's penicillin" or "nature's antibiotic." It rejuvenates the body's immune system by disabling viruses and fighting infections. It can treat a variety of health problems ranging from headaches, sore throats, and colds to more serious illnesses such as tuberculosis and Parkinson's disease.

Pollen/Bee Bread: Bee pollen causes an increase in physical and mental abilities, especially of concentration and memory ability, activates sluggish metabolic functions, and strengthens the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. This natural nutriment from the bees removes the causes of cardiovascular symptoms, such as arteriosclerosis, cerebral insufficiency, and other sequelae. It prevents nutrient deficiency during old age, pregnancy, and the lactation [nursing] period. Bee pollen accelerates convalescence after serious illness and/or an operation, increases the body's physical defensive powers of the immune system, stimulates mental and psychological resistance to stress, and creates a harmonizing of vegetative and hormonal disorders.

Royal Jelly: The queen honeybee's diet consists exclusively of royal jelly. This creamy substance, secreted by nurse bees (groups of worker bees dedicated to the care of the queen), aids the queen's growth and enhances her fertility level and longevity. The compound is 12-13% protein, 12%-15% carbohydrates, 5-6% lipids. Rich in vitamins and minerals, royal jelly includes the B vitamin pantothenic acid, which studies show reduce stress and emotional imbalance. Gamma globulin, an amino acid that helps the immune system fight infection and disease, is also present in royal jelly. Royal jelly strengthens the immune system, improves skin tone, and increases energy. It is also has anti-viral and antibacterial qualities.

PATH OF POLLEN SHAMANIC HEALINGS:

Honeybee Shamanic Healings work with the Spirit of the Honeybee, in the tradition of The Path of Pollen. Honeybee Shamansim is an ancient and enigmatic vein of Shamanism that has existed since the beginning of humanity. In the words of Simon Buxton (author of The Shamanic Way of the Bee ), "The Path of Pollen (now known as the Lyceum) is a shamanic tradition that works with humanity’s most ancient ally, the honeybee, not just as a metaphor, but as a vibrant, pragmatic and challenging spiritual path, grounded in the Earth but anchored to the heavens. (...)The Path of Pollen holds a focus of work on what we call ‘endocrine alchemy’, which is a rejuvenative programme that draws upon the intelligence and wisdom of the body-vessel and stimulates the interior stars and hidden veins within the subtle-body, liberating and circulating (bodily) elixirs known as ‘nektars’ which are utilised for shamanic practices including healing, visioning, shamanic flight and the largely lost art of shape-shifting."

Last night as I was sleeping, I dreamt—marvelous error! that I had a beehive here inside my heart. And the golden bees were making white combs and sweet honey from my old failures.
